D'ya like dags?

The party began this session while barricaded in the hogoblin's storeroom.

The Keep now houses:

Arathon the Elf
Olorin the Human Medium
Kebick the Human Acolyte of Tempus
Arnett the Centaur Acolyte, lost in faith
Nix the Elven Apprentice
Brodur the Dwarven Veteran
Dudley the Human Veteran
Carsaadi Silvershaper the Gnomish Acolyte of Zayatta
Gryf the Halfling Apprentice

Lost in their cups, somewhere in the Outer Bailey, also resides:

Grasshole the Human Acolyte
Gorag the Dwarven Veteran
Bastion the Bloodied the Human Veteran
Arus Flamestruck the Human Medium

Rachel wins 1st place for creativity in cobbling together a miniature for Sammy's character, Arnett!

Speaking of Arnett, he revealed dimensions of his character this session, voiced with an affected aristocratic Southern drawl.

The accompanying pictures show the fatal die rolls used in Nix's sweetly unintentional trepanning of Dudley, the party between a koboldy and a rat place, and the sweet craftswomanship of Rachel's Arnett.

The adventure will resume with the party paying to ransom Kebick, Gryf, and Arnett back from the kobolds.

Have at you!

Our fourth session into The Keep on the Borderlands- and the first session for three new players!

The current cast:

John as Kebick of the Order of the Flame, acolyte errant of Tempus.

KC as Arathon the elf, sole survivor of goblin raiders in his village.

Tommy as Olorin the Helper, 90 year old human magic user, scholar and academic now seeking meaning and understanding in adventuring beyond his bookstacks.

Rachel as Nix the elvish thief, if that really is her name. Laying low with a bounty on her head.

Sammy as Arnett, the centaur cleric with a birth defect- he's bipedal with a horse head. A misfit with his hooved relatives, he seeks meaning in his life through adventure.

Matt as Brodur, the dwarf. Surly, burly, and twirly with his flail- with a body count the envy of the most blood thirsty adventurers in his debut session!

The fourth episode saw a return to the hobgoblins' cave. The party braved the hobgoblins' barricade and succeeded in butchering many- while take a prisoner and charming another!

The party then barricaded themselves into the storage chamber in the hobgoblin's lair and plotted their next move!

Terrific session, everyone!

Living in a Grognard's Paradise

Our third session into The Keep on the Borderlands- which started with strict Holmes rules and is quickly mutating toward Mentzer/ BECMI.

The current cast:

JJ as Kebick of the Order of the Flame, acolyte errant of Tempus.

KC as Arathon the elf, sole survivor of goblin raiders in his village; and Tyrin the Cloak, street urchin thief who adamantly insists he was robbed of noble birthright.

Tommy as Olorin the Helper, 90 year old human magic user, scholar and academic now seeking meaning and understanding in adventuring beyond his bookstacks; and Brak, the berserker halfling who eschews fortune and words in favor of slang unquenchable lust for carnage.

The third episode quickly escalated into a furious melee with hobgoblins (see Heritage Miniatures below) on my DIY battlemat made from inch grid paper topped with transparent contact paper to create a ginormous dry erase mat.

The party slew seven hobgoblins, then spent a night barricaded into the Ogre's den before returning to the Keep in the light of day.

Bog dwelling Kermite

I am in love with the idea of an antagonist that is a cult of frogmen worshipping a dread god.

This is a prototype/ mockup of a hopping savage cultist.

Rapacious Etheldredia

I want to play a game of Gamma World or Star Frontiers, and obviously a carnivorous plant or two will be necessary.

Here is one from Ral Partha:
